What can I expect?

What is a typical service like?

In total, an Emmaus service is about 65-75 minutes in length. Services usually begin with the Emmaus Worship Ministry leading the church in music. Song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of service is complete, one of our pastors will come out to teach on a section of Scripture (this process is sometimes called expository preaching). Occasionally, the preacher will develop a Scripturally-based series of sermons around a theological or cultural topic. Every sermon is based on the Bible and focused on the Good News of Jesus. We believe the Good News of Jesus is extremely helpful to our lives; but we don't practice “self-help” preaching where the goal is simply being a better person.

What's the clothing style like at emmaus?

Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest. Most people dress casually. Some people enjoy wearing traditional Sunday clothes (suit-and-tie for guys; dresses for ladies), but this is the exception rather than the rule at Emmaus. As with every area of life, we want to honor the Lord and respect one another in how we dress.

What about my kids?
